More about Cat
Cat grew up in a big boisterous family in Massachusetts reading oodles of books. And magazines. And the local newspaper she delivered after school. But mostly books. Her elementary school bus driver greeted her every morning by saying, “Hey Books!” In college she enjoyed writing and research and putting ideas together. And reading lots of books. She became a writing tutor to ESL students and loved helping others put words and ideas down on the page. In graduate school, she read so many amazing children’s books she was inspired to start writing stories of her own.
Today, Cat spends her days writing picture books and realistic middle grade fiction. She attends writing conferences, takes classes and reads many books about craft. She loves to check out stacks of picture books from the public library that is just steps from her home office. She believes in the power and magic of stories to introduce children to the joys of literature, art, and ideas. Nobody calls her Books anymore, but she still brings lots of books home on the bus.
When Cat is not reading or writing books, she can be found in the kitchen baking something delicious, visiting museums to admire art, or dreaming about Paris. Some of her favorite things are: Cape Cod beaches, French pastries, long walks, and all cats everywhere.
